Finest Summer Community Concert in SeaTac

Let the Strings Speak is the brainchild of Dr. Maxine Mimms, founder of Evergreen State College Tacoma campus and educator since 1950. In a spirit of collaboration, Dr. Mimms has joined forces with violinist and educator, Dr. Lesa Terry, therapeutic harpist and pianist, Mona Terry, CMP, and project manager, Twanda Hill. Together they build models for concert presentations inclusive of music from the Pan African world that sustains and feeds the soul! Important to the project are mentoring opportunities for young artists that support their developing artistic skills and plant seeds of possibility.

Talented Musicians

As educators, we believe the sounds from the string instruments reduce the noise level in the environment and allow for an expanded learning experience of excellence. “Now in our fourth season, we are excited to present this unique program and invite the community to join us for an afternoon of healing.”

Celebration Of African American Diaspora

Let the Strings Speak (LTSS) is a celebration of African American and Diaspora performing arts and culture; to use arts and culture to address a community need and build community. The goal through this initiative is to foster opportunities for greater exposure to string instruments as creative vehicles for self-expression.
